COVID19 New Mexico
Summer 2020 with COVID-19
The evidence showed the Covid19 infections in New Mexico were concentrated on the Navajo Nation. Our Governor’s response was to lock down the whole state of New Mexico damaging our fragile economy while equally spreading resources equally across the state. In crisis such as the COVID-19 focus the resources on those that needed it. It was our fellow New Mexicans on the Navajo Nation needed our help. Help that included food, water and medical care so they could shelter in the homes until the crisis passed.
By focusing valuable resources on those that need it the most the Governor would have averted spreading of the COVID-19 virus throughout the state while demonstrating to the nation that New Mexico not susceptible to natural disasters or the Covid-19. We welcome your businesses and your great paying jobs. Arizona and Texas were never locked down like our Governor did and their economy continue to grow while our economy stagnated. I am glad our elected officials celebrated the investment of several billion dollars into New Mexico. I fellow business owner that is now in Arizona informed me Arizona has over 300 billion dollars in investments. No wonder the student population of Albuquerque Public School has dropped by thousands of students in the past years.
After the Vaccinations
In early February 2021 New Mexico published the COVID vaccination rate. It was 98% (vaccinations administered vs vaccination doses received) which was 15% higher than the other state’s averages. I did not believe that rate was true and time would tell. This week the Albuquerque Journal provided the number of doses administered and the number of doses received that results a vaccination efficiency of 85%. We were not told the truth in February 2021.
Today the Federal Center for Disease Control has published guidelines for COVID-19 protections states face masks are not needed outside and outside gatherings are safe. New Mexico Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines state facemasks are not required outside and outside gatherings are safe. Despite the CDC and NM Health guidelines our State and Local governments still require requiring facemasks outside and discouraging outside gatherings.
University of New Mexico graduation ceremonies are being held outside but guests are not allowed. The New Mexico Republican Party’s convention is being held in Texas this weekend. School sports are being played outside and the athletes are required to wear facemasks.
It is time we exercise our God Given Rights. Our daughter graduated from the UNM Medical School this past weekend and we attended. As you see from the photograph we were not welcomed, but we attended regardless if it was popular with the UNM Leaders. I would have attended the Republican Convention had it been held in New Mexico regardless if it meant being arrested. But I am not going hide in Texas to attend a New Mexico Republican Convention.
